Ogden, UT (July 21, 2023): Ogden Contemporary Arts announced today its inaugural Block Party, set for September 9th, 2023, from 12PM-6PM. The event will be located outside Ogden Contemporary Arts, on historical 25th street and will extend from the Monarch Building to the Dumke Arts Plaza. Families can enjoy food and beverage vendors, live music, artisans, educational Artist Factory booths, a beer garden, and more. Find out more at www.ogdencontemporaryarts.com.
The annual OCA Block Party is a free, community-driven, family-friendly event. According to OCA Director, Venessa Castagnoli, it aims to “bring our community together, allowing them to interact and connect with one another through art.” Event attendees can not only visit local artisan booths, but children can take part in making art with OCA’s youth education program, Artist Factory. The Artist factory programming will include printmaking, painting, poetry, upcycled art, and more. Music from various bands, like Proper Way, will take the stage, while adults can mingle in the beer garden. Additional bands and vendors to be announced.
OCA is a local non-profit organization that brings globally influenced and culturally diverse programming to its gallery. Committed to educating and interacting with the local community, OCA also brings in artists from all over the country to work in their Artist-in-Residence program. The AIR participates in artist talks, studio visits, and/or workshops. Castagnoli wants to bring art to everyone, regardless of age, income, or experience with contemporary art: “we hope the yearly Block Party will introduce our mission at OCA to a broader audience,” she says, “while also showing the importance of art in our local Ogden community.”
