Good Girl – Elyse Pignolet

February 7 – April 13, 2025

Ogden Contemporary Arts is proud to present GOOD GIRL, an evocative ceramic exhibit by Los Angeles-based artist Elyse Pignolet. Curated by Kasey Lou Lindley.

Blending the traditional craft of ceramics with contemporary issues, Pignolet’s work provokes thought and dialogue on feminism and cultural norms. Her pieces critique misogyny, inequality, and cultural stereotypes, offering a bold perspective on systemic gender biases. Through ceramic art and installation, Pignolet transforms traditional porcelain patterns into politically charged narratives, embedding delicate floral and ornate designs with themes of sexual violence, oppression, and street harassment. Her art bridges beauty and activism with sharp, unapologetic clarity.

Pignolet’s global perspective, shaped by her travels and studies, brings a unique depth to her work, which reimagines the familiar to challenge and expose societal injustices. By weaving tradition with modernity, she invites viewers to confront the everyday misogyny often overlooked in culture. Her art demonstrates how beauty and craft can be a medium for resistance and transformation.

This exhibition features a dynamic blend of ceramics, painting, and sculpture, exemplifying Pignolet’s ability to challenge and provoke through art. GOOD GIRL is a compelling exploration of the intersection between tradition, beauty, and activism.

Major funding for this exhibit is provided by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, The Utah Division of Arts & Museums, George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, Ogden Arts, Rocky Mountain Power, and the Utah Office of Tourism.
