Ogden Contemporary Arts is pleased to present No Place Like Home, a solo exhibition by local artist, Scout Invie.

Born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Scout Invie explores the American West through textile design, performance, and multimedia artworks. Her work traces the region’s evolving identity—its unraveling climate, global entanglements, and mythos. Drawing from her background in one of America’s most affluent communities with extreme wealth disparity, Invie confronts the West as both dream and mirage.

Scout’s sewn costumes reference Western wear’s iconic legacy, especially the tailored extravagance of Nudie Suits—rhinestone-studded designs worn by country music legends as symbols of success and spectacle. By incorporating meticulously crafted pieces with canvas, rhinestones, and glitter, Invie elevates her costumes as a critical form of contemporary art. Her works exist at the intersection of fine art, fashion, and identity construction.

Through playful yet incisive aesthetic choices, Invie explores how Western iconography, extreme wealth, and pop culture merge. Ruby boots echo Dorothy’s slippers, drawing a parallel between two mythic American journeys—Oz and the West—both grounded in the fantasy of transformation and the desire to return home.

Major funding for this exhibition is provided by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, The Utah Division of Arts & Museums, George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, Ogden Arts, Rocky Mountain Power, and the Utah Office of Tourism.
