Tea Ceremony with Barrida Rituals

Tea Ceremony with Barrida Rituals

Join Artist In Residence, Luis Alvaro Sahagún Nuño, for a one-on-one Sacred Tea Ceremony with Barrida Cleansing Rituals. To Register, see below.

Why You Should Participate?

In this intimate one-on-one tea ceremony, set within the serene confines of an artist’s studio, participants engage in a sacred journey together. Facing each other, they embark on a shared path of spiritual cleansing through a carefully orchestrated tea ritual. The selection of tea, chosen for its symbolic significance and healing properties, becomes a conduit for connection.

As the tea is brewed and poured, a deliberate and serene atmosphere is cultivated, encouraging a sense of openness and trust. The pouring itself symbolizes the flow of positive energy between the two participants. Before sipping, a moment of silent reflection sets the intention for spiritual cleansing.

Alongside the tea ceremony, a Barrida cleansing ritual is incorporated, adding another layer to the experience. Sacred herbs are used in sweeping motions over the participants in the artist’s studio, removing energetic blockages and negative influences. The Barrida, conducted with reverence and intention, complements the tea ceremony, enhancing the overall sense of purification.

The act of sipping the tea becomes a shared meditation, intertwining with the Barrida ritual, fostering a deep connection and mutual spiritual renewal. Throughout the ceremony, quiet conversation or meaningful silence allows for an exchange of energies and the release of any negativity.

This experience is offered on a sliding scale, ensuring accessibility for all, and is especially encouraging for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) folks to participate. As part of their spiritual journey, participants may choose to be included in Luis Sahagun’s Limpia Portraits, capturing the essence of their cleansing experience in a visual representation of shared spirituality within the unique ambiance of the artist’s studio. The ceremony concludes with a gesture of gratitude, acknowledging the sacredness of the shared moment and the energetic cleansing that has taken place between the two individuals.
